Anna Maria Abbona Barolo Bricco San Pietro DOCG 2017
Anna Maria Abbona’s Barolo Bricco San Pietro DOCG 2017 is a striking interpretation of Nebbiolo from the elevated slopes of Monforte d’Alba. The Abbona family, best known for their high-altitude holdings in Dogliani, expanded their reach into Barolo in 2009, bringing their hallmark precision and respect for tradition to this renowned cru.
Sourced from vineyards in the Bricco San Pietro MGA, situated at 450–550 meters above sea level with a south to southeast exposure, the site’s tuff and calcareous marl soils yield a Barolo of notable structure and mineral tension. Vines here are still relatively young (8–10 years), but already deliver fruit of depth and character. Vinified traditionally in stainless steel and matured in large Slavonian oak botti, the wine shows vibrant red fruit, florals, and a fine earthy backbone.
Elegant yet firmly rooted in Monforte’s powerful style, this Barolo is a testament to the Abbona family’s thoughtful approach and deep connection to the land.
