Contessa di Radda Toscana Chardonnay IGT 2023
Contessa di Radda is a range rooted in the long tradition of the Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico, a cooperative founded in 1961 by a group of growers committed to protecting and promoting the authenticity of Chianti. Named after Countess Willa of Tuscany, an influential 10th-century noblewoman, the wines pay tribute to the region’s deep historical ties and enduring viticultural heritage.
Contessa di Radda Chardonnay IGT is a fresh yet gently textured white from the hills of Tuscany, blending 90% Chardonnay with a splash of Malvasia del Chianti to bring a distinctly local touch. Previously labelled simply as Toscana Bianco, this wine now bears its varietal name thanks to a recent change in IGT rules.
A portion of the wine is aged in French oak, not to dominate, but to add roundness and a subtle creamy texture that complements the fruit. You’ll find notes of peach, ripe citrus, and apple, with a hint of toasted hazelnut and a clean mineral finish. It’s elegant and easy to enjoy, with enough weight to satisfy fans of barrel-aged styles, but plenty of freshness to keep it food-friendly and versatile.
