Contessa di Radda Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Contessa di Radda is a range rooted in the long tradition of the Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico, a cooperative founded in 1961 by a group of growers committed to protecting and promoting the authenticity of Chianti. Named after Countess Willa of Tuscany, an influential 10th-century noblewoman, the wines pay tribute to the region’s deep historical ties and enduring viticultural heritage.
This is a polished Tuscan red with a modern edge, made primarily from Merlot, with small additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The fruit is grown in cooler vineyard sites, allowing the Merlot to retain freshness and poise while developing generous depth and texture.
Aged for 12 months in French oak barriques (30% new), the wine shows a deep ruby colour and aromas of blackberries, plum, licorice, and tobacco. The Cabernet and Petit Verdot bring lift and structure—adding subtle spice, fine tannins, and a savoury undertone to the blend.
