Tornatore Etna Rosso 2022

Sale Price: $40.00 Original Price: $44.90

The Tornatore family has been making wine on the northern slopes of Mount Etna since 1865. Today, the estate is the largest vineyard owner within the Etna DOC, farming an extraordinary mosaic of volcanic vineyards around Castiglione di Sicilia. These ancient lava-derived soils, together with elevations of up to 750 metres and dramatic day-night temperature swings, produce wines of remarkable freshness, perfume and minerality. 

Produced from the native varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, this Etna Rosso is fermented in concrete before spending around six months in large oak casks, preserving the purity and elegance of the fruit rather than masking it with oak. 

Often described as Sicily's answer to Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo, Etna Rosso combines fragrance with structure in a style unlike any other Italian red. Bright cherry, wild berries and subtle spice are framed by fine tannins, vibrant acidity and a distinctive volcanic minerality that carries through to a long, savoury finish. A beautifully transparent expression of one of the world's most exciting wine regions.
