Valdibella Nero d'avola "Kerasos" Sicilia DOC 2022
Valdibella ‘Kerasos’ Nero d’Avola is a pure, vibrant red from the hills of Camporeale, in northwestern Sicily. It’s made by Valdibella, a small cooperative of growers committed to organic farming, biodiversity, and social responsibility—including work with at-risk youth and full rejection of mafia influence through their support of the Addiopizzo movement.
The name Kerasos comes from the ancient Greek word for “cherry,” a nod to the unmistakable red fruit character that defines Nero d’Avola in this area. Grown on calcareous clay soils between 250 and 350 metres above sea level, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts.
Aged only in stainless steel, the wine is ruby red with lifted aromas of cherry, wild berries, and a touch of balsamic. On the palate, it’s warm and supple, with gentle acidity and fine-grained tannins. A true Nero d’Avola of place made with a deeply ethical approach to farming.
